Moff Gideon, portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito, is a formidable antagonist in the Star Wars universe, specifically within the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. He first appears at the end of the first season's penultimate episode, simply titled "Chapter ."
Gideon is a former officer of the Imperial Security Bureau (ISB), a remnant of the fallen Galactic Empire. After the Empire's defeat, he carved out his own power base, operating as a Moff. His primary goal centers around acquiring Grogu (often referred to as "The Child"), due to the young being's high midi-chlorian count and Force sensitivity.
